Donation Policy
- Commonwealth Cookies regularly donates to charitable and community causes. To ensure that donations are made in accordance with company policy, the following steps are to be taken:
- All requests for donations -- of cookies or cash -- must be made in writing. Organizations requesting a donation must send an email to the official store email account. No requests for donations are taken over the phone and owners' phone numbers are not to be given to people requesting donations.
- An owner must approve all donations. This is always done through the store email account or with notice to the crew in an appropriate Slack channel.
- IF SOMEONE COMES IN TO THE STORE SAYING THEY ARE PICKING UP A DONATION AND THEY DO NOT HAVE AN EMAIL FROM THE OFFICIAL STORE EMAIL AND THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT THE DONATION IN SLACK, DO NOT GIVE THEM COOKIES. Employees have handed out thousands of dollars of cookies to people claiming they spoke to a manager or an owner and were told to get cookies. THAT IS NOT OUR PROCESS AND THIS IS ALWAYS A SCAM.
- WE NEVER MAKE CASH OR GIFT CARD DONATIONS FROM THE STORE. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE IS AN EMPLOYEE TO GIVE ANYONE CASH OR GIFT CARDS AS A DONATION. All cash contributions are made by an owner separately.
- Someone trying to scam you is likely to get upset or make threats. Kindly give them the store email and encourage them to contact an owner. You will never get in trouble for following this policy. Failure to follow it will be a problem.
